Taison Chatman is one of the best guards in the country for the class of 2023 and a key recruit out of the state of Minnesota. Over the weekend, he cut his list of potential programs down to 5 with a pair of B1G programs making the cut.

On Saturday, Chatman kept Ben Johnson’s hometown Minnesota program in the mix with Ohio State. Kansas, Xavier and Virginia were also included on Chatman’s top 5.

Chatman is a 6-foot-4 combo guard out of Totino-Grace High School in Minneapolis. According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Chatman is the top player out of Minnesota for the cycle and the No. 11 CG nationally. The 4-star recruit is also the No. 47 overall prospect in the country.

To this point, Ben Johnson has just one pledge in the class of 2023 from small forward Kadyn Betts out of Colorado. Needless to say, landing such a key prospect and home-grown product in Chatman would be a big boost for the Gophers.
