Tennessee player releases statement to clear up why he left game at halftime
Tennessee got demolished by SEC East foe Florida 47-21 on Saturday, but that’s not the only headliner to come from the game. According to 247Sports, Volunteers coach Jeremy Pruitt said that redshirt junior linebacker Quart’e Sapp was asked to leave the sideline and go to the locker room after refusing to enter the game.
Pruitt did not disclose Sapp’s future status with the program. Instead, Sapp provided some personal insight as to what transpired via Twitter on Sunday morning:

Sapp, who recorded 75 tackles (7.0 for loss) in 11 games last season, compiled three tackles in the season opener against West Virginia but has not generated a stat since.
The Vols (2-2) will square off against No. 2 Georgia (4-0) next weekend.
