One of the nation’s top linebackers in the 2021 class has officially parted ways with Tennessee.
247Sports reported on Friday that Tennessee has granted 4-star linebacker and Top 100 overall prospect Dylan Brooks a full release from his National Letter of Intent. He signed with the Volunteers in December, prior to the firing of head coach Jeremy Pruitt.
Brooks committed to Tennessee over Auburn, Alabama and LSU.
Per 247Sports, Brooks is a 6-foot-5, 250-pound linebacker out of Roanoke, Alabama. He ranks as the No. 76 overall prospect in the class and is the No. 4 player out of his home state. Based on the schools he was considering when he picks the Vols, it seems likely that he would remain in the SEC.
However, multiple B1G schools did show interest in Brooks and could still potentially reach out to test his interest. Indiana, Maryland and Nebraska were the B1G programs that offered the linebacker.
