Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher’s landmark extension was officially approved on Wednesday afternoon.
Fisher will now make slightly more than $9 million per season, making him the country’s second-highest paid college football coach behind only Nick Saban.
That puts Fisher ahead of other National Championship-winning coaches like Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and LSU’s Ed Orgeron. However, Swinney and Oregeron both won national titles at their current schools while Fisher won his at Florida State.

Fisher is 26-10 with Texas A&M since departing from Florida State after the 2017 season. He led A&M to a 9-1 record last season, but a loss to Alabama cost the Aggies a chance at the College Football Playoff. He is 17-8 overall in the SEC.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was the highest-paid coach in the Big Ten — and in the top five nationally — a year ago, but took an incentive-laden contract after going 2-4 last season.
Ohio State’s Ryan Day is next on the list at $5.7 million annually, according to USA Today’s 2020 coaching salaries database.
