Texas Southern beat Texas A&M-Corus Christi 76-67 to advance to the next round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
None of the starters had an outstanding performance for the Tigers, as the bench points were a big part of why they pulled away from the Islanders. Bryson Etienne (21 points), John Walker III (16 points), and P.J. Henry (14 points) lead the way off the bench in scoring for Texas Southern.
One thing that could prove to cause problems for the Tigers are turnovers. They had 15 total turnovers when it was all said and done. For reference, the Texas A&M-CC had 9.
The Tigers were also able to capitalize from the free-throw line. Texas Southern shot 74% from the charity stripe, going 26-for-35.
Now, Texas Southern has a much bigger challenge coming up. The Tigers will face Kansas in the 1st round of the Midwest Region. You can watch Kansas and Texas Southern Thursday at 9:57 p.m. ET on truTV.
