On the first weekend of college football, we’ve got an early candidate for the Catch of the Year.

Late in the first half of Saturday’s showdown between SMU and Texas State, Bobcats wide receiver Jeremiah Haydel made a ridiculous one-handed grab in the end zone to tie the game with under a minute to play in the second quarter. It will undoubtedly be one of the highlights from the first major weekend in college football.

Haydel fought off an SMU defender to haul in a pass from Brady McBride, knotting the score at 14-14 after the first 30 minutes. Below is the video of the snag:

That was Haydel’s second catch of the afternoon, as he’s totaled 29 receiving yards through the first two quarters. It was also McBride’s first touchdown pass of the season.

McBride ended the half completing 7-of-17 attempts for 84 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
