Tez Johnson delivered an especially productive 2-year stint for Oregon, but the wide receiver was not able to produce the kind of NFL Combine outing to accompany those results.

Across 2 seasons in Eugene, Johnson finished with over 2,000 yards and 20 receiving touchdowns with the Ducks. He also served as an electrifying return man and added a punt return touchdown during the 2024 season.

Unfortunately, Johnson measured in at just a hair over 5-foot-9 in Indianapolis and weighed in at 154 pounds. It was already known Johnson had a slight frame, but weighing in less than 160 pounds will be a red flag for some teams.

An even bigger red flag, especially for a player with that body type, is Johnson’s 40-yard dash time. Instead of running somewhere in the 4.4 range, Johnson was clocked with an official 4.51 in the 40-yard dash.

That is an especially low score for a wide receiver under 170 pounds at the combine, and he finished the day with a 64 athleticism score per Next Gen Stats.

It wasn’t all bad for Johnson. He did register impressive marks in the vertical and broad jump, delivering a 37″ vertical and a broad jump of 10’11”.

Next Gen Stats also revealed Johnson was clocked at 22.17 MPH on a go route in the on-field passing drills, the fastest speed of any of the wide receivers in a go route on Saturday. That’s in spite of Johnson being clocked near the middle of the pack with his MPH during his 40-yard dash.

We’ll see how that translates to Johnson’s eventual draft destination, but he’ll need to improve some of his testing numbers at a pro day before the draft rolls around.
