Back in 1977, Bud Foster began his collegiate playing career at Murray State.

By 1981, he was already working as a graduate assistant with the Racers. In 1987, he took his talents to Virginia Tech as an inside linebackers coach and has stayed with the Hokies ever since.

Once 1995 rolled around, he got upgraded to the defensive coordinator role and that has been a part of his position with the Hokies for the last 24 years. However, the 2019 season will be Foster’s last:

There are probably hundreds of statistics we could throw out there that would show what Foster has meant to Virginia Tech. One humorous one is in regard to total numbers.

Like the graphic shows in the tweet above, his defense has recorded 71 TDs to go along with 856 sack and 380 INTs since 1996. That’s just absurd.

We’ll be sad to see Foster go — regardless of him being in ACC country.
