The Game is staying put in its usual time and network.

On Monday, FOX announced that it will feature Michigan and Ohio State’s annual rivalry matchup as a “Big Noon Saturday” contest. It will kick off at noon ET and air on FOX.

Another showdown of highly-ranked teams expected

It’s a bit early in the calendar for preseason Top 25 rankings, but both teams are generating early buzz. CBS Sports recently updated its post-spring Top 25, slotting Ohio State at No. 2 and Michigan at No. 12.

In recent seasons, The Game has decided the Big Ten East, which gave the rivalry clash Big Ten Championship Game and College Football Playoff implications.

Things will be a bit different in 2024. The B1G has scrapped divisions, meaning The Game could be the first of multiple Michigan-Ohio State matchups.

It’s entirely possible for Michigan and Ohio State to meet again in Indianapolis as the conference’s two top teams and play for the conference title. With the CFP expanding to 12 teams and more games, there will be more opportunities for another postseason rematch depending on seeding and outcomes.

In recent years, The Game has been about streaks. Urban Meyer was famously 7-0 as a head coach in the rivalry contest. The Buckeyes made it 8 in a row in 2019, Ryan Day’s first year.

After The Game was not played in 2020 due to COVID-19, Michigan snapped OSU’s streak in a big way with a 42-27 win in 2021. U-M will head into Nov. 30 having won 3 in a row over the Buckeyes.

Sherrone Moore was Michigan’s acting coach for the Wolverines’ 30-24 victory against OSU last season in Ann Arbor. The win officially went on Harbaugh’s record, though, meaning Moore will be seeking his first official win in the rivalry.
