Three B1G quarterbacks have been tabbed as favorites to replace Deshaun Watson as the Davey O’Brien Award winner in 2017.

Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett, Penn State’s Trace McSorley and Michigan’s Wilton Speight were all included in the list that included 30 quarterbacks from across college football. All three have been regarded as the top passers returning in the B1G.

According to NCAA.com, the watch list was was “compiled by a subset of the Davey O’Brien National Selection Committee, this year’s list was selected based on player performance during the previous year and expectations heading into the 2017 college football season. All nominees are required to have previously started at least one game at their current institution.”

McSorley led the B1G in passing yards (3,614) and passing touchdowns (29) last season, but Barrett and Speight both eclipsed the 2,500-mark through the air. All three candidates also threw eight or fewer interceptions in 2016.

Each of the last two years, Clemson’s Watson has taken home the honor.

Other significant names on the list include Sam Darnold (USC), Luke Falk (Washington State), Jalen Hurts (Alabama) and last year’s Heisman winner Lamar Jackson (Louisville).
