As the 2021 NFL Draft draws closer, the experts and analysts continue to update their player rankings, draft boards and team predictions. Recently, ESPN’s Todd McShay released his latest Top 32 prospects in this year’s class.
Five B1G names were included in the Top 32 spots, with Michigan having two prospects and Penn State, Northwestern and Ohio State each having one. And McShay has some interesting rankings.
Ranked at No. 4 is Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons, the highest player for the B1G. Parsons opted out of the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but did not see an impact on his draft stock.
The only other Top 10 projection for the B1G was Northwestern offensive lineman Rashawn Slater, who also opted out of the season. He’s considered to be one of the top offensive linemen in the class.
All the way down at No. 13 is Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, who was previously thought to be one of the top two prospects in the draft. Instead, he’s slipped down the rankings despite playing all season and leading the Buckeyes to the national title game.
Here are McShay’s rankings:
- No. 4: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
- No. 8: Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern
- No. 13: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
- No. 18: Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan
- No. 26: Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan
