Former Texas head coach and Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman has landed a new gig. He’ll be taking his first job in the NFL.
The Chicago Bears announced on Monday that they have hired Herman to be an offensive analyst and special projects coach for the upcoming season. Herman will also be an assistant strength coach.
Herman had spent the past six seasons as a head coach at the college level. He got his first opportunity at Houston in 2015, and spent two seasons with the Cougars. He spent the last four seasons at Texas and was fired following the 2020 campaign.

In six seasons as a head coach, Herman never had a losing record. He was 22-4 in two years at Houston and 32-18 in his four seasons with the Longhorns. In 2020, Texas finished with a 7-3 record.
Herman was a hot commodity on the coaching circuit in 2014, following Ohio State’s national title run. He spent three seasons on Urban Meyer’s staff in Columbus before taking the job in Houston.
