Tulsa faced No. 24 SMU Saturday night and the Mustangs trailed 10-6 early in the second quarter. No big deal, right?

Right. Except, if you start adding mistakes into the mix. Then the deficit could surely expand.

After Tulsa scored, an SMU mistake surely took place. Tulsa kicked the ball off for a shorter kickoff that was set to land at about the 10-yard-line. SMU had two players ready to receive the kick, but both appeared to defer to the other one to field it.

Then both realized that neither was going to field it.

Take a look at how the kick ended up becoming an onside kick recovered for a touchdown:

This is pretty hilarious. Well, for everyone that isn’t an SMU fan.

Next time, Mustang returners, you should probably call for who will be fielding the kick.

That might help.
