Two B1G kickers have been named as semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, which is presented to the nation’s top place-kicker.
On Thursday morning, Indiana’s Griffin Oakes and Michigan’s Quinn Nordin both made the semifinalist cut, which includes just 20 kickers from across the country. Oakes leads the B1G in field goal percentage while Nordin has more attempts and makes than anyone in the conference.

Oakes has made 11-of-12 field goals this season for the Hoosiers, which puts him at 91.7 percent on the season. Oakes is a perfect 10-of-10 from inside 50 yards and nailed a 51-yard attempt against Virginia this season, a program record. He’s also converted on 25-of-26 extra point attempts.
Nordin has knocked through 14-of-17 attempts for Michigan this year, including a 55-yarder against Florida in the season-opener. Against Air Force, Nordin was a perfect 5-of-5 for the day. He’s also hit 23-of-24 extra points this season.
The list of 20 semifinalists will be narrowed down to three finalists in late November and a winner will be selected in December.
