B1G tight ends Troy Fumagalli (Wisconsin) and Mike Gesicki (Penn State) were selected as finalists for the John Mackey Award, presented to college football’s top tight end.
With Fumagalli and Gesicki being tabbed as finalists, the B1G occupies two of the three available spots on the list. The other tight end listed was Oklahoma’s Mark Andrews.

Fumagalli and Gesicki lead the B1G in receiving among tight ends and both rank in the conference’s top 20 overall in receiving yards.
Fumagalli has racked up 460 yards and three touchdowns on 36 receptions and has helped Wisconsin reach a perfect 11-0 mark on the year. Gesicki has totaled 466 yards and seven touchdowns with 46 catches. The Nittany Lions are 9-2.
Last year, Michigan tight end Jake Butt after catching 46 passes for 546 and four touchdowns.
The winner for the Mackey Award will be announced on Dec. 7, 2017.
