Each year, the Butkus Award goes out to college football’s top linebacker. These annual awards always have their watch lists and semifinalists, and, that’s all well and good.

But, once you get the finalists narrowed down, that’s when the real contenders are revealed. On Monday, the Butkus Award announced its six finalists and two are from the Big Ten:

Zack Baun at Wisconsin and Micah Parsons from Penn State have the chance to take home the highly prestigious award at the end of the 2019 season.

Baun, to this point, has helped the Badgers get to a 9-2 record and has amassed 52 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks while forcing two fumbles.

Parsons has helped the Nittany Lions’ defense pave the way for a 9-2 record as well and has registered 85 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2 sacks while also forcing two fumbles. Parsons is a sophomore, while Baun is a senior.
