Two LSU fans reportedly arrested after allegedly beating Alabama fan to death
Two LSU fans have been arrested after allegedly beating to death an Alabama fan in a bar in Ponchatoula, Louisiana during Saturday’s game between the Crimson Tide and Tigers.
According to WWL-TV, police said an altercation broke out in the bar during Saturday’s game between Alabama and LSU. 46-year-old Robert Bowers suffered a severe injury after being struck by Azia Crockett, 27, and Ryan Anthony, 24.
Crockett and Anthony have been charged with one count each of felony manslaughter. They turned themselves in to police.
Bowers received immediate medical attention from a volunteer fireman from Ponchatoula. He was later transported to North Oaks Medical Center by ambulance and later received care at the University Medical Center.
Bowers was placed on life support before his death.
Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson told The Advocate that he believes the fight began as an argument between Bowers and Crockett regarding the Alabama-LSU game. Witnesses were unable to say specifically what sparked the fight. Investigators have also not released any details.
Family members of Bowers told WBRZ-TV that he was an Alabama fan residing in Louisiana. He had gone to the bar to watch the game.
