Last week the B1G Conference announced the schedule for the 2020-21 Men’s Basketball season, and on Monday the oddsmakers have released their opening odds for the league’s top spot.

The preseason best bet is the Iowa Hawkeyes, listed as a 9:4 favorite to take the title, led by 6-foot-11 center Luke Garza.

Last season’s B1G Player of the Year, Garza actually could be an easy first-team all-American again after his senior campaign. Garza averaged 23 points and just shy of 10 rebounds a game during his junior year, and will be a force to be dealt with in the league.

Illinois and Wisconsin are both considered at 3:1 odds of taking the title from the Hawkeyes.

The Illini have both Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn returning after NBA Draft consideration and was big news in late summer for Illinois fans. Wisconsin returns almost their entire rotation from a team that finished 21-10 overall and 14-6 in Big Ten play last year. UW was on a roll when the postseason was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last Wednesday, the Big Ten announced a full breakdown of men’s basketball conference games for all 14 schools for the 2020-21 season. It marks the third-consecutive year each school will compete in a 20-game Big Ten schedule. Each school may also play up to seven non-conference games.

Odds for the rest of the league are as follows:

Iowa 9/4
Illinois 3/1
Wisconsin 3/1
MSU 9/2
OSU 12/1
Michigan 14/1
Indiana 16/1
Purdue 25/1
Rutgers 33/1
Maryland 50/1
Minn 80/1
Penn St 80/1
Neb 100/1
NW 100/1
