The ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) isn’t an official rankings system, but it’s one we still find pretty interesting on a week-to-week basis. It provides a bit of a different outlook, using a certain formula each week.
On Monday morning, with the first full week of the season finally in the books, ESPN’s FPI top 25 was updated, and there were some significant changes. Penn State soared quite a bit, and six total B1G teams made the rankings.
Penn State demolished Idaho 79-7 in the opener, a good reason behind the dramatic increase in its ranking position.
