Updated SP+ rankings has 3 B1G teams in top 25 following Week 5
After Week 5 of B1G action, ESPN’s Bill Connelly updated the SP+ rankings, with only three league teams in the top 25, with a couple favorites just outside the mark.
It wasn’t a great week for the top teams in the B1G, with Wisconsin’s rating dropping more than three adjusted points per game to 23.5, dropping them from third to fourth. The Badgers and the Buckeyes, with a 27.2 rating, are the only league teams to make the top 10.
Iowa came in at the No. 15 spot with a 16.2 rating.
Indiana and Northwestern, while ranking high in the AP polls lately, are somehow ranked just outside the top 25.
The B1G teams and their ranks are:
No. 2 – Ohio State
No. 4 – Wisconsin
No. 15 – Iowa
Unlike the AP polls, thet SP+ is intended to be predictive and forward-facing. It is not a résumé ranking that gives credit for big wins or particularly brave scheduling.
NEW SP+ RANKINGS
* We have a new (old) No. 1!
* Well hello there, OU
