Week 5 had plenty of intense action throughout.

All-in-all, it turned out to be a strong weekend for the conference. Penn State continued its hot start with a complete dismantling of Maryland. Michigan rebounded with a predictable drubbing of Rutgers. Ohio State made headlines with its latest blowout, this time on the road in Lincoln.

Elsewhere around the conference, Wisconsin and Michigan State fought hard for narrow wins and Iowa was nearly flawless in the hiatus from conference play against Middle Tennessee.

Moving forward, the B1G has a number of strong-looking teams that will shape the conference race. Those teams are also looking good nationally with six ranked inside the top 25 on ESPN’s SP+ system.

Ohio State headlines those six teams in the No. 2 spot with Penn State and Wisconsin also landing in the top 10. Here is where the B1G teams landed in the top 25:

  • No. 2 – Ohio State
  • No. 7 – Penn State
  • No. 8 – Wisconsin
  • No. 13 – Michigan
  • No. 20 – Iowa
  • No. 21 – Michigan State

From that group, Michigan State plays Ohio State and Iowa travels to take on Michigan in Week 6. Those games will likely play a big role in shaping the outlook of the B1G moving forward.
