Upset in the ACC? Virginia Tech has big halftime lead on No. 10 North Carolina

We have an early upset alert in the ACC.

Virginia Tech has opened the season on its home turf in impressive fashion, building a 14-0 lead on No. 10 North Carolina at halftime. The Hokies had an impressive first half offensively and was able to shut down start quarterback Sam Howell.

Braxton Burmeister had a big first half for the Hokies, completing 7-of-8 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 6 times for 17 yards and an additional score.

Receiver Tre Turner and running back Raheem Blackshear both had over 50 yards receiving through the first 30 minutes of the contest. Jalen Holston led Virginia Tech in rushing with 35 yards.

Howell completed just 4-of-8 pass attempts for 58 yards. North Carolina totaled just 117 yards of offense the opening half and picked up just 6 1st downs.
