Urban Meyer coached in the SEC. He coached in the Big Ten. And, he’s coached other places, too.
Since moving on from the sidelines at Ohio State, he’s become a college football analyst with FOX. He’s able to be more opinionated in this role as opposed to a head coach, of course.
On Saturday, he brought up a fact on Twitter that called out the SEC and the way the conference as a whole is scheduling:
Urban Meyer: “Look what the SEC is doing this week, playing FCS schools. Is that good for college football?”

Let’s take a look at some of the games the SEC teams are in on Saturday:
- Alabama-Western Carolina
- Auburn-Samford
- Kentucky-UT Martin
- Vanderbilt-East Tennessee State
- Mississippi State-Abilene Christian
It should be noted that there are three in-conference games going on. The other five? Not so much. The quality of competition isn’t exactly great.
Meyer just wanted to point that out. Good for college football?
Nope.
