Urban Meyer says 'Oklahoma's done' in College Football Playoff race following loss to K-State
Urban Meyer is calling it now — Oklahoma is out of the College Football Playoff race.
The FOX college football analyst made his brutally honest comment after the third-ranked Sooners fell to unranked Kansas State on Saturday, the first Big 12 matchup of the season for both teams. The Wildcats overcame a 21-point deficit to knock off the Sooners 38-35 in Norman.
In a season when the margin for error is so slim, Meyer views Oklahoma’s loss as catastrophic for its hopes of winning a national championship. He says they don’t have any chance to earn one of the four spots in the Playoff.
“Oklahoma’s done,” Meyer said on FOX. “They can’t make the Playoff.”
The Sooners opened the season as the favorite to defend their Big 12 title, but that will probably change after the loss to Kansas State. Although, Oklahoma did lose a game to K-State in 2019, still found a way to win the conference and earned one of the four spots.
It’s not going to be an easy road to get back into consideration for the College Football Playoff, but it’s also not impossible. Well, maybe Meyer thinks it is.
