Video of youth football coach in Michigan sucker punching parent prompts police investigation
A youth football coach may find himself in serious trouble after a video surfaced of him sucker punching a parent during a game.
The video was posted by a parent who captured the incident earlier this month, according to a report by WNDU. Police say that the situation started when the youth coach walked onto the field and was irate with an official over a call made during the flag football game.
As the video shows, the coach walked away from the official then punched a parent in the face:
The parent who was struck in the face has contact the Niles Police.
“The victim, the person who got punched, came to the police department to report that he was assaulted and apparently the coach didn’t like how this spectator was looking at him,” Niles Police Captain Kevin Kosten told WNDU. “He referenced that maybe he was smiling at the coach and so this coach just happened to punch him, sucker punch him, which to me means punch him in the face. There’s definitely a possibility that he could be charged with assault and battery. Some of that will certainly be up to the victim but assault and battery would be an appropriate charge in this case.”
Charges are expected to be filed once the coach is positively identified.
