The ceremony is open to the public and fans and alumni are encouraged to attend the unveiling.
Virginia Tech says the monument was financed through private gifts and no university funds were used for the tribute to Beamer. Sports artist Tom Gallo was commissioned to create the life-sized statue.
Beamer was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was a cornerback for the Hokies from 1966-1968. He returned as the head coach of his alma mater, where he spent the next 29 seasons developing VT into a powerhouse program.
In nearly three decades as the head coach, Beamer accumulated a 280-143-4 record and took his team to 23 bowl games. He won four ACC championships and five ACC Coastal Division titles. The Hokies enjoyed 13 double-digit win seasons during his tenure, including an eight-year stretch from 2004 through 2011 when Virginia Tech won at least 10 games.
Beamer was selected to the College Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.
