Washington Football Team quarterback Kyle Allen suffered a nasty lower leg injury on Sunday against the New York Giants.
Allen’s leg took an awkward hit from Giants defender Jabrill Peppers, and appeared to be broken.

Allen existed the game after starting 5-for-7 for 61 yards. He was replaced by Alex Smith, who is just two years removed from suffering a gruesome leg injury of his own.
Smith has played in one game already this season. He completed 9-of-17 passes for 37 yards in a loss to the Rams on Oct. 10.
Allen was able to wave to crowd as he was being carted off:

According to a report from Tom Pelissero, the injury might not be quite as bad as it looked:
The initial diagnosis on Washington QB Kyle Allen is a dislocated ankle, but only a small fracture, source said. A significant injury, but somewhat better than it looked initially on replay.

If Washington loses, it will fall to 2-6 on the season but will still be in the race for the NFC East.
