Washington had a magical season last year, making it all the way to the national title before losing to Michigan. Coach Kalen DeBoer is now the coach at Alabama, and last year’s quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was drafted No. 8 by the Atlanta Falcons.

One of the first big decisions for new coach Jedd Fisch is to determine who is going to be the starting quarterback for the Huskies, and he has reportedly come to that decision. According to Jordan Schultz, the Huskies have named former Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers their starting quarterback.

Rogers had a terrific career during his time as the quarterback at Mississippi State, as he finished his career as the second-leading all time passer in SEC history with 12,315 yards. He shined during the tenure of the late head coach Mike Leach with the Bulldogs before taking a step back under Zach Arnett in 2023.

While Rogers is expected to get the start, there is an expectation that he may not be the only quarterback to get playing time in that game. Schultz also tweeted that there is a good chance that Demond Williams Jr. will see the field and get some snaps.

The Huskies host Weber State on Saturday night at 11:00 pm ET.
