The Washington Huskies welcomed the UCLA Bruins to town on Friday night for a conference clash. This was an important game for both teams regarding bowl eligibility, and the Huskies are officially going bowling after pulling away for the win.

It wasn’t a flawless effort by the Huskies by any means. Quarterback Will Rogers was benched in favor of Demond Williams Jr. after throwing 2 interceptions. Williams led the team to 3 second-half scoring drives, and the Huskies walked out with a 31-19 over the Bruins.

This game started off slowly and looked like a potential defensive battle. A rushing TD from Jonah Coleman was the only score of the 1st quarter, leaving the Huskies up 7-0.

In the 2nd, Keleki Latu caught a TD pass for the Huskies, while the Bruins added 10 points of their own. Going into the half, the Huskies held a 14-10 lead.

Both teams added a field goal in the 3rd quarter, making it a 17-13 game heading into the 4th. It would be all Huskies in the final quarter, as the backup QB-led team would add 2 scores to make it a 31-19 game.

Williams completed 7 of 8 passes for 67 yards and 1 TD. Coleman rushed 21 times for 95 yards and 2 scores. Russell Davis II had a huge game on defense, racking up 3 sacks and 1 forced fumble.

For the Bruins, Ethan Garbers threw for 267 yards with 2 TDs. Devin Kirkwood and Kain Medrano both came up with INTs for the Bruin defense.

With the loss, the Bruins fall to 4-6 while the Huskies improve to 6-5.
