The first week of the B1G football season is officially in the books.
It was an impressive first week for the conference, which went 10-2 in non-conference games in Week 1. Michigan’s win over Florida gave the B1G a 1-0 advantage over the SEC. Teams like Nebraska and Illinois avoided potential embarrassing losses and Penn State and Ohio State looked every bit as good as advertised.
Oh, and those two losses? Purdue lost to No 16 Louisville 35-28 and Rutgers dropped its home opener to No. 8 Washington 30-14.
Even the teams that lost had pretty impressive outings. All-around, it was a really good start to the 2017 season for the conference.
Following the first week of the college football season, Big Ten Network’s Dave Revsine, Gerry DiNardo and Howard Griffith gave their thoughts on what transpired as B1G football returned.
11-3 #B1G overall record.
10-2 in non-conference matchups.
Every loss was suffered by unranked teams to Top 16 teams. Solid Week 1. 👏 pic.twitter.com/6su3TrgJBQ
