B1G teams are known for dominating defenses. In 2018, FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt sees two of the top defensive players in the country coming from the conference.

Wisconsin LB T.J. Edwards kicks off Klatt’s list at No. 5. Klatt notes that since the Badgers were tackle-by-committee on defense last season, Edwards’ stats don’t necessarily jump off the page, but he’s a reliable contributor and a force on the UW defense. Klatt thinks Edwards will be in the mix for the Butkus Award again this season.

Capping off the list is arguably the most identifiable B1G defender in the country, Ohio State DE Nick Bosa. While it’s somewhat rare to see defensive players make the cut as Heisman Trophy finalists, Klatt thinks Bosa has a legitimate chance to be heading to the Big Apple after the regular season. Klatt sees a bigger workload for Bosa this season, which will lead to more production (and more highlight hits).
