WATCH: Hugh Freeze delivered Liberty's pregame speech via teleconference from hospital bed
The legacy of Hugh Freeze has featured a ton of twists and turns. In retrospect, he had Ole Miss a fourth-and-25 defensive stop away from the SEC Championship Game four years ago, but then his tenure ended in shame following multiple scandals.
Freeze began his new coaching job with another plot twist. He coached from a hospital bed in the press box during Week 1 because he’s still recovering from a staph infection.

He delivered Liberty’s pregame speech via teleconference from the press box while laying in bed as well, and of course, the Liberty athletic department caught it on video:
Hugh Freeze wasn't going to let being in a hospital bed in a coaches' booth stop him from giving his pregame pump up speech.

Liberty did play No. 22 Syracuse pretty tough, holding the high-powered Orange offense to just 10 points in the first half, but Liberty lost 24-0. Either way, this game will be remembered for Freeze’s unique coaching situation, including the first-known pregame speech given while laying down.
