Toledo may have registered the best college football play of Week 1. Maybe even the season.

We won’t get too carried away just yet, after all, we’ve only had one full weekend of football. But that doesn’t diminish how incredible Toledo’s punt block and subsequent touchdown was in its season opener.

On Saturday, Toledo hosted FCS opponent Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in an early season matchup.

With VMI prepared to punt out of its own end zone, a Rockets player on the punt block team burst through the offensive line and snagged the ball right off the foot of the punter.

The VMI punter was already in the end zone, so the block and recovery resulted in an immediate score. It was almost like watching a magic trick.

Toledo won the matchup 66-3 to start the season.
