Florida State and college baseball coaching legend Mike Martin is hanging it up. After 40 years with the Seminoles, a fixture of the sport coached his final game on Wednesday night.

Martin’s Seminoles dropped a 4-1 contest to Texas Tech on Wednesday, being eliminated from the College World Series. It was a heartbreaking end to an incredibly successful career.

After the game, Martin had an inspirational message for his players. Delivered as only he could, the postgame speech went viral through social media. It is perhaps the perfect end to such a remarkable career.

Below is the video shared by Florida State baseball:

Martin will be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in college baseball history. In 40 years, he recorded 2,029 wins and appeared in the postseason every single season. His Florida State teams won at least 40 games every season and claimed 19 conference titles (11 Metro, 8 ACC) during his time.

Florida State made 17 College World Series appearances under Martin’s guidance, but never won the championship. The Seminoles were national runners-up twice in that time.
