Just because college football officials aren’t wearing a helmet and shoulder pads doesn’t mean their jobs aren’t dangerous. That was on full display during the B1G noon kickoffs on Saturday.
First, one official in the Ohio State-Indiana game had trouble getting out of the way of Buckeye running back J.K. Dobbins and got plowed over. He got up pretty quickly and appeared to shake it off, but we all know he’ll feel it in the morning.

Indiana’s only way to stop J.K. Dobbins? Pray that a ref is in the wrong place at the wrong time. pic.twitter.com/KR86GN2fax

If that wasn’t enough, another official took a spill in the B1G.
During the Pitt-Penn State game, an official running at the top of the screen tripped over his own two feet during a long pass attempt. There was some inclement weather in the area, so he probably just hit a wet spot on the field.

Who said officiating was easy? Or safe? Clearly there are some pretty big risks, especially in the B1G.
