Northwestern captured the B1G West division in resounding fashion this season, but at least one analyst is predicting a much closer finish in 2019.

J Leman with the Big Ten Network took time to break down the teams in a position to compete next season, and he believes nearly every team in the division is primed for a run to the B1G Championship Game. The only team he sees as out of the race is Illinois:

“Who’s going to win the (B1G) West next year? It could be anybody,” exclaimed Leman. “I think there’s six teams – everybody but Illinois – that have a shot at competing for that  West division title.”

Northwestern may have won the West this season, but Wisconsin and Iowa appear poised for a rebound in 2019. Add in Minnesota and Purdue, bowl teams from 2018, and Nebraska, who continues to rise under Scott Frost, and 2019 could be a crazy year for the division.
