Connor Hayward made one of the most impressive catches you’ll ever see in a college football game.

To put it in perspective, it wasn’t necessarily at the level of Odell Beckham Jr’s for the Giants (in an NFL game) but it was certainly a catch that required talent, skill, and a little bit of luck.

The Michigan State running back was flexed out in the slot as a wide receiver with MSU in an empty slant. Hayward ran a three-step slant and barely got inside leverage on the Michigan defender. As such, quarterback Brian Lewerke had to put it where only Hayward could catch it.

The result: pure majesty. Here it is below:

Not only was this a one-handed catch, but Hayward was able to fend off the Michigan defender sticking his hand in at the last minute, and he still hauled it in.

As the broadcast mentioned, perhaps the most impressive facet of this catch is the fact that Hayward isn’t even a wide receiver. The fact that he’s a running back with those kind of hands and catching ability is extremely impressive — and it led to perhaps one of the top highlight catches you’ll end up seeing in your lifetime.
