This is it, folks. It’s game day.

Purdue and Northwestern kick off the college football season as well as their respective Big Ten slates with a huge game at Ross-Ade Stadium Thursday evening — and you get the sense the Boilermakers are ready.

Fresh off a 7-6 campaign in Jeff Brohm’s first season as head coach, Purdue has to be itching to get back on the field and start taking those all-important steps forward that are required — if not demanded — in a head coach’s second season.

Keep in mind, Purdue ended last season on a three game win streak, which included a win at Iowa and a 38-35 win over Arizona in the Foster Farms bowl, so momentum is huge right now for the Boilermakers.

And sure, there are arguments to be made that momentum doesn’t transfer from season-to-season, but without a doubt, Purdue would gain a ton of it with a season-opening win over a solid Big Ten opponent.

Are you ready for game day? Purdue certainly is.
