The NCAA continues to take hits. Maybe if there was some clarity in its transfer waiver process — what warrants immediate eligibility and what doesn’t — it wouldn’t continue to get publicly bashed.

But, the NCAA continues to hide behind a curtain of anonymity, refusing to provide any transparency in its process. Coaches, players, families and fans are all frustrated by the organization.

Most recently, the NCAA decided to deny a transfer waiver for immediate eligibility for Brock Hoffman, a former Coastal Carolina offensive lineman who transferred to Virginia Tech to be closer to his mother, who has a serious brain tumor.

Meanwhile, players like Justin Fields, Tate Martell, Aubrey Solomon and a host of other marquee players, are all awarded an opportunity to step on the field immediately. It makes absolutely no sense.

ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt hit on that topic recently. In his nightly “One Big Thing” segment, Van Pelt blasted the NCAA for its arbitrary process, and for failing to grant players like Hoffman, and Illinois tight end Luke Ford, immediate eligibility.

College football fans don’t often agree on everything, but we can all agree with what Van Pelt is saying here. Below is the video from Van Pelt’s “One Big Thing”:
