If there’s one thing that gets college football fans as rowdy as a game-winning touchdown, it’s a T-shirt cannon. People will do just about anything in an attempt to get a free shirt.
Colorado’s mascot, however, probably won’t want to see a T-shirt cannon again for quite some time.
Last Saturday, during Colorado’s 45-14 win over New Hampshire, the Buffaloes mascot, Chip, was prepared to fire off the T-shirt cannon and give fans a chance to walk out of the stadium with a free shirt. That’s when disaster struck.
The cannon misfired and drilled Chip in an unfortunate spot. A really unfortunate spot.

Ouch.
I’m guessing Chip won’t want to touch a T-shirt cannon for some time.
While it appeared to be a pretty hard hit at first, Chip seemed to be OK. He was carted off the field but was giving fans a huge wave on his way out.
T-shirt cannons are usually a really fun way to interact with the crowd. You don’t often see the negative side of that.
We all hope Chip returns to the sideline soon. Even if he refuses to fire off the T-shirt cannon.
