Kyler Murray won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, putting the debate of which star quarterback was most deserving of the award. But in the days after the Oklahoma QB claimed college football’s most prestigious individual honor, there’s been one question looming.
Which college football lineman would win the Piesman Trophy?
On Monday afternoon, we finally received the answer. Tennessee defensive lineman Kyle Phillips was named the 2018 recipient of the award, which was started by SB Nation and is presented to a lineman who “does un-lineman like things.”
Phillips had one of the best plays of the season for a lineman, interception a pass from Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts and plowing over several Alabama offensive players on his way to the end zone.
Here’s a review of the play:

After receiving the award, Phillips had plenty of people to thank, including his teammates and the fans for voting for him.
Phillips also thanked an opponent. He issued a formal thank you to Hurts for throwing him together in a Piesman Trophy video he created.
It might be one of the best acceptance speeches you’ll see. And, of course, there’s pie involved.
