There are some 5-2’s that look pretty good.

Last week was not one of them.

For starters, I somehow underestimated Iowa — the team I’ve been hyping since Week 2 — and I got Illinois-Nebraska wrong. The two games wrong, however, weren’t the problem. The margins I predicted for the winners were a swing and a miss.

I had Michigan State and Penn State rolling to four-touchdown wins, both of whom had to fend off last-minute touchdown drives to pull out victories. Not my best call, but given the fact that they were both playing one-win teams, it was understandable.

My embarrassing pick of the week was only picking Northwestern to beat Minnesota by three points. For whatever reason, I didn’t believe Minnesota could possibly look so offensively crippled. And for some other crazy reason, I didn’t believe Northwestern was capable of routing a B1G team without a consistent passing game.

But hey, at least I wasn’t one of the three College GameDay analysts that picked the Gophers to go into Evanston and knock off the Wildcats. I wasn’t THAT foolish.

So here’s to more foolishness:
