Last week, it felt like there were five or six B1G games that could’ve gone other way.

This week, despite the fact that B1G play is starting, looks a little different.

The smallest spread for any B1G game is 5.5, which is the spread for Nevada-Purdue and Wisconsin-Michigan State. But as Wisconsin and Michigan State reminded us last week, spreads can be thrown out the window.

After all, Wisconsin was a 35-point favorite at home against Georgia State and barely pulled that out. MSU, on the other hand, was a seven-point dog at Notre Dame and got up by as much as 29 points in that one.

Still, spreads have a purpose.

They predict what’s supposed to happen. As in, Michigan is supposed to roll past Penn State this week. Minnesota is supposed to cruise against Colorado State on Saturday.

Will they? Who knows.

Here’s an updated look at what the oddsmakers are forecasting for the B1G in Week 4:

  • Penn State vs. No. 4 Michigan (-18.5)
  • Iowa (-13) vs. Rutgers
  • Wake Forest vs. Indiana (-7)
  • Colorado State vs. Minnesota (-16.5)
  • No. 11 Wisconsin vs. No. 8 Michigan State (-5.5)
  • Nevada vs. Purdue (-5.5)
  • No. 20 Nebraska (-7.5) vs. Northwestern
