This Saturday night, one player will be given College Football’s most prestigious and elite individual award in the Heisman Trophy. The B1G will have players hoping to hear their names called for the award is Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.

After not having a player from the B1G not being a finalist last year, the B1G will have two elite playmakers on both sides of the ball become finalists this season. Hutchinson is also the first defensive player to become a finalist for the Heisman Trophy since Ohio State defensive end Chase Young in 2019.

This year’s finalists in Hutchinson, Stroud, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, and Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett were on College GameDay featuring the prestigious Army vs. Navy game. Each one of the finalists was asked about their individual and team’s success this season.

Hutchinson was asked about his team’s success and passion after going into their first College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. Here is what Hutchinson said:

“Having that passion, having that heart is something that I think is so important, especially as a leader of this team. I have to lead by example. It’s something I had to do week in, week out. We’re sitting here 12-1, playing in the Playoff, we’ve got an incredible opportunity in front of us and we’re trying to keep this train rolling.”

Stroud was asked about the impact and motivation he receives from his teammates by saying:

“They just give me confidence. Every time we’d go back to the sideline, they’d give me feedback on what they see and I’d give them feedback. So, really, we’re working together. And then, Coach Day, he helps out tremendously, calling great plays. It’s our job to go out and execute.”
