Which B1G power has the most to prove in Week 9? Paul Finebaum weighs in
Week 8 of the 2021 College Football Season was originally supposed to be calm and quiet, but it was anything but quiet. There were some wild games that have a tremendous impact on the race for the B1G Championship.
No. 7 Penn State found themselves on the losing end of a nine overtime loss at home to Illinois. The race for the Eastern Division is heating between No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 Michigan, and No. 9 Michigan State. ESPN College Football analyst Paul Finebaum was asked which three teams have the most to prove next week.
He had an interesting answer on SportsCenter.
“I think it’s Michigan,” Finebaum said. “We’ve all said wonderful things about Jim Harbaugh, including me. He’s brought this program back from the abyss, but I was a little concerned yesterday in the first half against Northwestern. The Wolverines may have been looking ahead. They looked rather pedestrian. This is a center-stage game for Harbaugh. It’s a game-changing game as well, and a win here and it really sets up a run here. Of course, Penn State later in Happy Valley and the home game against Ohio State. So, I’m all over Jim Harbaugh this week, in a good way.”
Michigan (7-0) is undefeated and, yet, they are behind a one-loss Ohio State and there are questions of their overall production on offense. They will have a big chance to shed some doubt as they will face No. 9 Michigan State in East Lansing next Saturday.
Next weekend is a big one in the B1G with the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry game and Penn State traveling to Columbus to play Ohio State.
