Over the years, the annual rivalry between Ohio State and Michigan has been played with some very high stakes. The Game usually determines the outcome of the B1G East and has serious implications for the postseason.

In 2021, Michigan finally secured its first win over the Buckeyes under Jim Harbaugh and went on to capture the B1G Championship. Now, both teams look to remain in the top 5 throughout October and November before the season-ending game.

During Wednesday’s broadcast of ESPN’s Get Up, Heath Dinich was asked if the winner of the 2022 edition of The Game will go on to play for a national title. Dinich believes the winner will have a great shot to win the title and also predicted the outcome.

“You would be right (about the winner playing for a national title) because Ohio State’s going to win that game,” said ESPN’s Heather Dinich. “And to me, if they win that game, they’ve got a great shot to win the national title, not just play for it.”

Coming into 2022, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day reiterated the three main goals remain the same each season for the Buckeyes. Those goals are to beat Michigan, win the B1G and win the national championship.

After failing to accomplish any of those goals last season, we’ll see if the Buckeyes can flip the script in 2022 or if the Wolverines can make it back-to-back rivalry wins.
