Willie Fritz made an incredible callback to Tulane’s 1932 Rose Bowl loss to USC following the Green Wave’s incredible comeback victory over the Trojans Monday afternoon.

The Trojans led the entire game until the last 9 seconds. Fritz’s Green Wave defense pulled off a late-game safety, received the ball and drove the field to score a touchdown with under 10 seconds remaining, the extra point was true and the Green Wave walked off the field winners, 46-45.

Postgame, Fritz revealed that he told his team the game was revenge for Tulane’s Rose Bowl loss to USC in 1932. At that time, Tulane was just 1 year from becoming a member of the SEC and a football powerhouse.

The players’ response, pre Fritz, was incredible.

College football is just better when these types of games happen. Tulane finishes the season 12-2 after a 2-10 season in 2021-22.

Talk about a turnaround!
