If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Or something like that.

Western Michigan has three wins and zero losses to start the 2016 season, with two of them coming against Big Ten teams. Sure, it’s against Northwestern (22-21) and Illinois (34-10), but they’re quality wins for a MAC program on the rise, nonetheless.

Coach P.J. Fleck, now in his fourth year with the school after back-to-back eight-win seasons for the first time in program history, has encouraged Michigan and Michigan State fans to cross over and join the Broncos fans for their upcoming matchup vs. Georgia Southern on Saturday evening.

Michigan State hosts Wisconsin at noon while Michigan hosts Penn State at 3:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor.

“Go to Ann Arbor and East Lansing in the daytime, go get your daytime fix and then come to us at night,” Fleck told MLive.com. “You can get a double-header. It’ll be perfect. Even if you’re not a fan of Western Michigan, come over and watch another football game.

“Whether you’re a Wolverine or you’re a Sparty, that’s fine, you can all be Broncos, we will take you. Come on down and see the night game.”

Western Michigan is easily a contender to win the MAC title this season, even receiving six votes in the latest AP poll.

“We said we wanted national attention, now we’ve got national attention,” Fleck said Tuesday. “Now we’ve got to be able to react on that. When we were 1-11 people said ‘yeah, well when you win we’ll come back. Well here we go, we’re starting to win, not only that we’re starting to win on a national stage.”
