Wyoming is losing a quarterback to the transfer portal, but that is not a loss head coach Craig Bohl is going to take lying down. He went public on Christmas Eve with a statement announcing the Cowboys are interested in bringing in a QB via the portal or JUCO route for the 2022 season.

“The college football landscape is changing with the one-time transfer rule and NIL. Our staff anticipated this movement and have a clear vision to navigate these uncharted waters,” wrote Bohl in a statement on Twitter. “After a successful early signing day, Cowboy Football will address the need to sign a quarterback via the transfer portal or junior college.”

Bohl’s statement even referenced working with Josh Allen, a Wyoming QB that went on to become a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Part of Wyoming’s need came about due to the decision of Levi Williams to enter the portal after an incredible performance in the Cowboy’s bowl game. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact Bohl’s recruiting pitch has on landing a QB for 2022.
