The 2019 NFL Draft isn’t for about another 6 months.
But, it’s the NFL Draft. People care about it year-round. Who is their favorite team going to pick in the first round? Who are the best prospects?
Is it a deep QB class?
All these questions are popular no matter what time of year it is. On Wednesday, Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel gave his take on the top 10 QBs in college football right now and how they project to the next level.
Thamel talked with NFL scouts as well, and the Big Ten made up three-tenths of the top 10.
Here’s the list:
- Justin Herbert, Oregon
- Daniel Jones, Duke
- Will Grier, West Virginia
- Dwayne Haskins, Ohio State
- Drew Lock, Missouri
- Jarrett Stidham, Auburn
- Ryan Finley, N.C. State
- Clayton Thorson, Northwestern
- Shea Patterson, Michigan
- Tyree Jackson, Buffalo
Dwayne Haskins, just a redshirt sophomore, is No. 4 here. Clayton Thorson, a senior, is at No. 8, while Michigan junior Shea Patterson is right behind Thorson. The Big Ten may not historically be known for its QB play, but as of now, there appear to be some of the nation’s best in the midwest.
How will it truly translate to the next level?
We’ll have to wait a year (or so) to find out.
Here’s Thamel’s full article, with descriptions for each of the top 10 QBs.
